Picasso was born on 25 October 1881 in a nineteenth-century building on the Plaza de la Merced. A wide range of exhibitions focusing on the painter, a number of publications about his life and work, artistic seminars, screenings and other complementary events form the basis of a busy autumn of culture in Malaga. From 14 to 22 October, the Flamenco Ballet of Andalusia was be staging its adaptation of Federico García Lorca’s Gypsy Ballads at Malaga’s Teatro Cánovas. The heart and soul of the company is Cristina Hoyos, one of the dance world’s most temperamental and highly praised divas of the past century.
