| Much more than a rite | ||||
For a whole week, devout Andalusia celebrates its Holy Week. The city of Malaga is one of the cities that arouses most fervour. The streets of Malaga vibrate to the slow and mysterious passing of the statues. A scene that is perturbing and seductive at the same time. The villages of the province also hold beautiful and interesting acts. For example, the old customs of Antequera or Velez-Malaga during Holy Week, the beautiful and elegantly carved thrones of Nerja, the noisy processions of Salares or Iznate, the Judaic processions of Alcaucin, the competitive fraternities of Alhaurin el Grande and Alhaurin de la Torre, the warm processions of Marbella, Fuengirola or Torremolinos, or the dramatic and live representations of the last days of Jesus Christ on Earth that some of the inhabitants of Moclinejo, Frigiliana, Benalmadena, Carratraca, Istan or Riogordo play out. |
