After ten years of publishing AEHCOS Magazine, we wanted to take a look back with the idea of continuing ahead with the same enthusiasm with which we began working on this project on the 28th of November 1997, although there were almost two years of work prior to its launch. Thus, we wish to share with our readers several unpublished and very personal pictures of some of the people who throughout these years have worked on the publication and who have actively contributed to its ranking in the complex world of publishing.
Having revised our graphic archives, the only thing that has undergone few changes in this decade is the magazine itself. During the first two years, AEHCOS Magazine was published quarterly and in its very first year it won the National Tourism Award which is given annually by the Tourism Council of the Andalusian Government.
Important people, from Malaga and Andalusia, of literature, music, theatre, cinema, painting, sculpture, politics, sports and, of course, tourism, have appeared in the pages of AEHCOS Magazine in exclusive interviews.
AN UPDATE 50 ISSUES LATER
With our recently published issue number fifty we have changed the format to make it more practical and user-friendly for our passing-through readers, who are always equipped with guides, cameras, sunglasses and souvenirs. Now, in this commemorative issue, we also have a new editorial design, cleaner and more modern. Esteban Montero, our chief editor, was the architect of this transformation and we sincerely hope that it pleases everyone.
THE BEST REWARD: OUR READERS
However, after a decade of our lives dedicated to divulging all that the province of Malaga has to offer, the best reward has always been our anonymous and ever-changing readership, who we are sure exist by the thousands and who devotedly follow us. All of us at Aehcos Magazine get the goose bumps whenever we are told that someone has seen a group on the beach flipping through our magazine, or at the hotel swimming pool, or on the promenade, or a relaxed reader immersed in the colourful pages of our publication. We can only be immensely grateful.
As the master Manuel Alcántara says, in order to make a good text, whatever it is, “one needs to know how to string some letters together”. And we are working on this, learning day after day to string some letters together to try and explain that Malaga is the “City of Paradise”, as aptly stated by Vicente Aleixandre; that the Costa del Sol is the light that illuminates it and that Andalusia is the sublimated mother of this paradise
