It may sound like the slogan of some shopping mall, but the fact is that here at AEHCOS it is anniversary time. First of all because in June this year our association marked its thirtieth birthday. Feeling that this was reason enough for celebration, the hoteliers of the province of Malaga have founded some very special awards which we will be giving out to major figures from the worlds of hotels and catering, culture and enterprise with links to our part of the tourism world, on 22 November at what will be an unforgettable event, and one which we will undoubtedly be repeating on future anniversaries.
Secondly, on 28 November it will be ten years since the magazine you have before you now was first launched, during which time it has established itself as a flagship publication in the specialist field of tourism within Andalusia, and one of the most esteemed journals of its kind published anywhere in Spain. Across the central pages of this issue, the editorial team wanted to share with you some of the most significant moments from the publication’s history, no doubt bringing back happy memories for all those who have been closely involved in working towards its joyful birth.
Both dates also serve to mark other much more universal anniversaries, such as the emergence of the Generation of 27 in Spanish culture eighty years ago, or thirty years since our fellow Andalusian Vicente Aleixandre won the Nobel Prize for Literature. We ourselves will never reach such dizzying heights... But what matters, as in any aspect of life, is to continue trying, if possible with even more enthusiasm than when we embarked on this venture, to achieve successes which always seemed out of reach.
