NATURAL PARKS  
THE TORCAL
Classified as a Natural Park. El Torcal is a natural monument which is home to Europe’s most impressive examples of karstic landscape. The entire area is made up of limestone which originated on the seabed during the Jurassic period, some 150 million years ago.

THE CHORRO RESERVOIR
The ‘El Chorro’ Reservoir, in the borough of Ardales very close to Antequera, was opened by King Alfonso XIII in 1921. The marvellous natural attractions of its surroundings include woodlands, ‘beaches’, watersports, footpaths, lookouts, gullies and waterfalls. It also contains the Gaitanes Canyon, also known as the Throat of El Chorro, measuring 2 miles long and 400 m high.

FUENTE DE PIEDRA LAKE
The Lake of Fuente de Piedra is to be found close to Antequera. It is the largest lagoon in Andalusia, and is home to the biggest colony of pink flamingos anywhere on the Iberian peninsular, and one of the most sizeable in Europe.
